To help you better
understand the power and functionality, please view the Robot
sample screen. The main window is composed of three adjustable
panes. Each pane handles a different
phase of the search and view process and can be resized to preference using
the button in the lower right corner of the pane. The Item Entry pane is on top.
This pane allows entry and manipulation of the current search. An item or an item pattern to search is
entered. If a specific item is
entered, it is validated and added to the Search List on the right side. If an item pattern is entered, all items
matching the pattern display in the Pattern List on the left. One or more items from this list can be
added to the Search List. Radio
buttons next to the entry field determine how each item is added to the
search, whether as an optional, required or excluded item. Pressing the Search button executes the
inquiry and displays the resulting list of qualifying files in the Files
List. The second or File List pane handles manipulating the list of files
found from the search. The list can
be made more manageable by entering the file name filter. A selection button controls how each file
name is displayed, as the full name, short name or file label in ls-l
format. Selected files in the list
can be printed, edited or viewed. The Viewing pane, on the bottom, allows selected files to be viewed. When a file is selected from the File List, it is displayed with all items in the current search highlighted as they are found in the file. Pressing the left directional arrow positions the text at the previous search item occurrence. Pressing the right directional arrow positions the text at the next occurrence. Pressing the Edit File button will launch the configured editor positioned at the current item occurrence, if possible. Pressing the Match button pops up a window to allow any string to be entered and searched. The Match window can also display a list of items currently cross-referenced to the file and any of these can be selected for matching. The main menu handles opening the database, setting configuration
options and generating reports.
Application help can be popped-up as well as context sensitive help on
screen objects in the main window. Please view Robot’s user- friendly screen. PSS offers a free 30-day demo to help you fully
